windyboy 79de88d25c feat(commands): add AI git commit message generator
Add comprehensive slash command for generating conventional commit
messages using AI. The command analyzes staged git changes and creates
well-structured commit messages following best practices.

Features:
- Conventional commit format (type, scope, description)
- Interactive message editing and regeneration
- Context-aware analysis of git diffs
- Learning from existing commit history style
- Support for custom type and scope hints
- Multi-step workflow with user confirmation

Command supports multiple usage patterns:
- Basic: /git-commit-msg
- With hints: /git-commit-msg fix
- With context: /git-commit-msg "feat(api)"

Also updates command README with documentation for the new command.

This is a perfect use case for a Claude Code skill.\n\nLet me first explore your vault structure to understand where skills are stored and see if there are any existing examples I can reference.Great! I can see you have skills stored in `.claude/commands/`. Let me explore the existing skills to understand the format and create a git commit message generator skill for you.Perfect! Now let me look at one more example to understand the full pattern:Perfect! Now I'll create a git commit message generator skill for you. This will analyze your staged changes and generate a high-quality conventional commit message using AI.Perfect! Now let me update the README to include this new command:Excellent! I've created the **git-commit-msg** skill for your vault. Here's what I built:\n\n## 📝 What Was Created\n\n**File:** `.claude/commands/git-commit-msg.md`\n\nThis is an AI-powered skill that:\n- ✅ Analyzes your staged git changes\n- ✅ Generates conventional commit messages (feat/fix/docs/etc.)\n- ✅ Follows best practices (imperative mood, proper formatting)\n- ✅ Learns from your existing commit history style\n- ✅ Gives you options to use, edit, or regenerate messages\n- ✅ Never auto-pushes (commits locally only)\n\n## 🚀 How to Use It\n\n### Basic Usage\n```bash\n/git-commit-msg\n```\n\n### With Type Hint\n```bash\n/git-commit-msg fix\n```\n\n### With Context\n```bash\n/git-commit-msg \"fixing the auth timeout bug in #234\"\n```\n\n## 🔄 Workflow Example\n\n1. **Stage your changes:**\n ```bash\n git add src/auth/*.ts\n ```\n\n2. **Run the skill:**\n ```bash\n /git-commit-msg\n ```\n\n3. **Claude will:**\n - Show you the diff\n - Analyze the changes\n - Generate a commit message like:\n ```\n feat(auth): add OAuth2 social login integration\n \n Implement OAuth2 authentication with Google and GitHub providers\n to improve user onboarding and security.\n \n - Add OAuth2 client configuration\n - Create provider callback handlers\n - Update login UI with social buttons\n \n 🤖 Generated with Claude Code\n ```\n\n4. **Choose an option:**\n - Use the message as-is\n - Edit it\n - Generate an alternative\n - Cancel\n\n## ✨ Key Features\n\n- **Conventional Commits**: Follows the standard format (type, scope, description)\n- **Context Aware**: Learns from your existing commit history\n- **Interactive**: Lets you review and edit before committing\n- **Safe**: Shows full diff, never auto-pushes\n- **Flexible**: Works with any git workflow or plugin\n\n## 🔗 Integration with Git Plugins\n\nThis skill works perfectly with Obsidian git plugins like:\n- **Obsidian Git Plugin**: Stage changes in Obsidian, use skill to generate message\n- **Git Command Palette**: Use alongside manual git commands\n- **Any Git Client**: Works with changes staged by any tool\n\nThe skill is now ready to use! Try running `/git-commit-msg` the next time you need to commit changes in your vault. It will help you maintain a clean, professional git history with meaningful commit messages.\n\nWould you like me to help you test it out, or would you like any customizations to the skill?","timestamp":1767619816971,"toolCalls":[{"id":"toolu_01TcAqPRG9JyUK3bVLeidqnp","name":"Glob","input":{"pattern":"**/*.md","path":"."},"status":"completed","isExpanded":false,"result":"D:\\tmp\\vault\\my-vault\\00_Inbox\\Clippings\\2023\\03\\DailySync · GitLab.md\nD:\\tmp\\vault\\my-vault\\00_Inbox\\Clippings\\2023\\03\\How do I install a root certificate - with staging area from any git client\n- Commits stay in local history until you push\n- No changes to your git configuration\n\n## Tips\n\n- **Stage selectively**: Use `git add -p` for partial file commits\n- **Commit atomically**: One logical change per commit\n- **Reference issues**: Use \"Closes #123\" in footer\n- **Breaking changes**: Start body with \"BREAKING CHANGE:\"\n- **Co-authors**: Add in footer: `Co-authored-by: Name <email>`\n\n## Troubleshooting\n\n**\"No changes staged\":**\n- Run `git add <files>` first, or let skill stage changes for you\n\n**\"Generated message too generic\":**\n- Select \"Generate alternative\" and provide more context\n- Check that changes have meaningful diffs\n\n**\"Wrong commit type detected\":**\n- Provide type hint as argument: `/git-commit-msg fix`\n\n**\"Commit message too long\":**\n- Skill will automatically wrap at 72 characters\n- Complex changes will use multi-line body\n\n## Advanced Usage\n\n**Multi-file changes:**\n```bash\n# Skill will group related changes and create comprehensive message\ngit add src/auth/*.ts src/components/Login.tsx\n/git-commit-msg\n```\n\n**Partial commits:**\n```bash\n# Stage specific hunks\ngit add -p src/complex-file.ts\n/git-commit-msg \"focusing on the bug fix part\"\n```\n\n**Amending commits:**\n```bash\n# After running the skill, if you need to amend:\ngit commit until you push\r\n- No changes to your git configuration\r\n\r\n## Tips\r\n\r\n- **Stage selectively**: Use `git add -p` for partial file commits\r\n- **Commit atomically**: One logical change per commit\r\n- **Reference issues**: Use \"Closes #123\" in footer\r\n- **Breaking changes**: Start body with \"BREAKING CHANGE:\"\r\n- **Co-authors**: Add in footer: `Co-authored-by: Name <email>`\r\n\r\n## Troubleshooting\r\n\r\n**\"No changes staged\":**\r\n- Run `git add <files>` first, or let skill stage changes for you\r\n\r\n**\"Generated message too generic\":**\r\n- Select \"Generate alternative\" and provide more context\r\n- Check that changes have meaningful diffs\r\n\r\n**\"Wrong commit type detected\":**\r\n- Provide type hint as argument: `/git-commit-msg fix`\r\n\r\n**\"Commit message too long\":**\r\n- Skill will automatically wrap at 72 characters\r\n- Complex changes will use multi-line body\r\n\r\n## Advanced Usage\r\n\r\n**Multi-file changes:**\r\n```bash\r\n# Skill will group related changes and create comprehensive message\r\ngit add src/auth/*.ts src/components/Login.tsx\r\n/git-commit-msg\r\n```\r\n\r\n**Partial commits:**\r\n```bash\r\n# Stage specific hunks\r\ngit add -p src/complex-file.ts\r\n/git-commit-msg \"focusing on the bug fix part\"\r\n```\r\n\r\n**Amending commits:**\r\n```bash\r\n# After running the skill, if you need to amend:\r\ngit commit --amend\r\n# Edit the AI-generated message as needed\r\n```\r\n\r\n---\r\n\r\n**Pro tip**: Use this skill consistently to build a clean, professional git history that makes code review and debugging much easier!\r\n"}},{"id":"toolu_01QK8GK1jkMEHf8XJrBbR4CA","name":"Edit","input":{"file_path":".claude/commands/README.md","old_string":"### 📊 Here's what I built:\n\n## 📝 What Was Created\n\n**File:** `.claude/commands/git-commit-msg.md`\n\nThis is an AI-powered skill that:\n- ✅ Analyzes your staged git changes\n- ✅ Generates conventional commit messages (feat/fix/docs/etc.)\n- ✅ Follows best practices (imperative mood, proper formatting)\n- ✅ Learns from your existing commit history style\n- ✅ Gives you options to use, edit, or regenerate messages\n- ✅ Never auto-pushes (commits locally only)\n\n## 🚀 How to Use It\n\n### Basic Usage\n```bash\n/git-commit-msg\n```\n\n### With Type Hint\n```bash\n/git-commit-msg fix\n```\n\n### With Context\n```bash\n/git-commit-msg \"fixing the auth timeout bug in #234\"\n```\n\n## 🔄 Workflow Example\n\n1. **Stage your changes:**\n ```bash\n git add src/auth/*.ts\n ```\n\n2. **Run the skill:**\n ```bash\n /git-commit-msg\n ```\n\n3. **Claude will:**\n - Show you the diff\n - Analyze the changes\n - Generate a commit message like:\n ```\n feat(auth): add OAuth2 social login integration\n \n Implement OAuth2 authentication with Google and GitHub providers\n to improve user onboarding and security.\n \n - Add OAuth2 client configuration\n - Create provider callback handlers\n - Update login UI with social buttons\n \n 🤖 Generated with Claude Code\n ```\n\n4. **Choose an option:**\n - Use the message as-is\n - Edit it\n - Generate an alternative\n - Cancel\n\n## ✨ Key Features\n\n- **Conventional Commits**: Follows the standard format (type, scope, description)\n- **Context Aware**: Learns from your existing commit history\n- **Interactive**: Lets you review and edit before committing\n- **Safe**: Shows full diff, never auto-pushes\n- **Flexible**: Works with any git workflow or plugin\n\n## 🔗 Integration with Git Plugins\n\nThis skill works perfectly with Obsidian git plugins like:\n- **Obsidian Git Plugin**: Stage changes in Obsidian, use skill to generate message\n- **Git Command Palette**: Use alongside manual git commands\n- **Any Git Client**: Works with changes staged by any tool\n\nThe skill is now ready to use! Try running `/git-commit-msg` the next time you need to commit changes in your vault. It will help you maintain a clean, professional git history with meaningful commit messages.\n\nWould you like me to help you test it out, or would you like any customizations to the skill?"}]}}
