Video Library Manager

A Python-based CLI tool for managing personal video collections with a safety-first, human-in-the-loop approach.

Installation

This project uses uv for Python package management. To install:

# Install dependencies
uv pip install -e .

# Install with development dependencies
uv pip install -e ".[dev]"

Usage

vlm --help

Reports and inventory exports store modified_timestamp values in UTC (YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM:SS).

If file logging cannot be initialized (for example, unwritable log directory), VLM falls back to console logging and continues running.

Development

Run tests:

pytest

Requirements

• Python >= 3.10
• uv (Python package manager)
• ffmpeg (optional, for video metadata extraction)
